Jessica Santiago only reached the Final 13 of America's Next Top Model Cycle 12, but she's part of the final 3 on this season of Si TV's Model Latina. Santiago says she learned quite a few valuable lessons on Top Model that helped propel her to the finale of Model Latina, among them, how to cohabitate with a bunch of girls. “I learned tricks to be a good model [on ANTM]. With every challenge they teach you something...And I learned to live by myself! I hadn’t been away from home before.” Santiago may have Miss Tyra to thank for teaching her all those tricks of the trade, but, she says, Model Latina sort of breaks the catfighting model stereotype. “I like Model Latina because it shows that with Hispanic women, we’re all different,” she says. “We’re not all these loud, sexy girls people stereotype.”
The ANTM alum is something of a pageant girl, and currently holds the title of Miss Gurabo, hoping to be crowned Miss Puerto Rico Universe on November 4th. Says Santiago, "The long-term is winning Miss Universe, and if that happens, I want to start an organization that helps young kids without funds to make their lives easier." Well, being crowned Miss Universe is probably more publicity than any winner in the history of ANTM ever received, possibly excluding Adrianne Curry, but she married Peter Brady.
The winner of Model Latina will be crowned tonight on Si TV.
