The Surprise Smize
Chelsey placed third in the first two challenges, which made her bottom three ranking this week pretty surprising, especially with the Ru Paul reference thrown in there. When Tyra handed the lipstick-free model her photo, she said, “I don’t know who that is. This is like somebody at drag night trying to look like Chelsey.” This was hard evidence that sometimes the physically demanding shoots aren’t the ones that present the biggest challenge. Chelsey’s struggle is actually figuring out what to do with her face when she’s lying perfectly still.
After three wins in a row, we feel like they should just hand the tiara and bouquet of roses to Ann right now. We offer the following words from the judges as proof. Nigel (on Ann’s beauty shot): “This looks like Vogue Italia to me.” Matthew Rolston: “Ann is memorable. That’s the biggest thing you can be.” What’s the worst that could happen for Ann at this point? She screws up and goes home early? Doesn’t matter. She wouldn’t be stuck there for long.

This week’s runner-up had a tough go of it at home, what with everyone telling her how she’s fake and not liked. But as they say, success is the best revenge. Kacey’s face seems to have been made for this kind of classic beauty shot. We’re curious to see if her power ranking slips once her entire body is back in frame, however, since her previous photos were called too athletic and too dancer-like.
The Top 3
Hellooo, Esther. The “young Elizabeth Taylor” came out of the woodwork this week and delivered a pretty stellar photo. We hadn’t heard much from her before, besides the time she flashed us. She looked like a mix of the Old Hollywood and Victorian versions of herself this episode. Let’s hope this gives her some momentum for the rest of the competition.
