Wow. Instead of a slap in the face, this is like a slap from The Face to America's Next Top Model. ANTM declined to renew Nigel Barker’s contract for Cycle 19 — in other words, he got fired, along with Jay Manuel and J. Alexander — but he bounced back fast.

Oxygen revealed today that Nigel will host The Face, Naomi Campbell’s new reality show where aspiring models compete to become “the face” of a famous brand. Supermodels Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha will join Naomi on the show as mentoring coaches. (So it really is The Voice to ANTM’s American Idol.) The Face is scheduled to air in 2013.

When it was recently announced that Naomi was casting models for the show, we wondered if The Face would revive her 14-year feud with Tyra Banks. They seemed to put the past behind them, but not only is Naomi launching a show that sounds a lot like ANTM, she stole Tyra’s man. Granted, Tyra gave him away, but now we have a modeling show rivalry. What could be more fun than that?

However, there are some differences between the shows. Here are more details about The Face’s three-team coaching plan:

Oxygen viewers will gain access inside the world of modeling with The Face, which features three teams of models, each led by supermodel coaches Campbell, Kurkova and Rocha. The coaches will scout and choose their teams from aspiring young models nationwide before guiding them through assignments, which include photo shoots, runway shows and commercials for some of America’s best known brands. Throughout the series, the supermodel coaches will mentor these young hopefuls taking the lessons and skills they have learned and using them to guide their teams through challenges that accurately depict what it takes to have a career as a model and be the face of a brand. During the process, these young models will be exposed to the very best photographers, stylists and designers in the fashion world. In the end, one girl will be chosen to become The Face of a well-known brand, earning a real contract as the brand ambassador. As the image of this brand, the winner will become a spokesperson for that company, representing it from all angles – in print, on-air and at brand-hosted events.

How does this sound to you? Would you watch The Face for Nigel or are you staying loyal to Tyra and ANTM? Is there room in your heart for both?

Catch the premiere of America's Next Top Model Cycle 19: College Edition on Friday, August 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
