Tyra Banks of ANTM looks hot in red at the arrivals for Nickelodeon's 23rd Annual Kids' Choice Awards.
Just call her Tyra (Ty-Ty, and Miss Tyra are acceptable alternatives). Yes, joining the likes of Madonna, Cher, and fellow model Iman, Tyra Banks has decided to drop her last name and shoot to superstardom simply as "Tyra."
She made the big announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying of her erstwhile surname, "We can drop it right now, call me Tyra." Ellen suggested they make it official on the air and Tyra replied, "Okay, I have officially dropped the Banks from Tyra on the Ellen show." Do you think Miss J is off somewhere making his signature horrified face, or will ALT praise the sleek, trimmed down moniker?
We're behind it. Tyra's basically already known just by her first name, and it's catchier for branding purposes. Hmm, maybe she is learning something in those snooty Harvard classes after all...
