What separates a fight from a feud is longevity, and reality television stars are like drama camels - they have the ability to make a little go a loooong way. Tyra Banks is obviously the common thread here, and whether it’s because her opponents are crazy-jealous or just plain crazy is up for debate. So we decided to take a look back at some famous America’s Next Top Model feuds, if for no other reason to make our own problems seem very, very real.
Tyra VS. Adrianne Curry

The Issue: It’s rough when the firstborn turns on you! After giving several post-competition interviews claiming America’s Next Top Model was manipulative and that her modeling contract was not fulfilled, Cycle 1 ANTM winner Adrianne took to her MySpace blog (always an outlet for classiness and credibility) in 2007 to further air her grievances and offer a half apology. It’s a long, winding post where she dismisses the show for ignoring the fact she was the first winner, while also praising it for taking her to the next level of fame (The Surreal Life, My Fair Brady), while also insisting she did most of the work on her own. Well, that clears everything up! She ended by saying that she wasn’t mad at Tyra, which might be true, but in our experience, talking about not being angry usually means you’re incredibly angry.

Them’s fightin’ words! From Adrianne’s blog:  “It seems very petty and immature for Tyra & Co. to try to act like the first winner of their show never existed. All I did was raise my voice when I didn't get what I was promised. Were they THAT surprised that I would be outspoken about it? COME ON!”

Is Tyra smizing or despising? Smizing all the way. Zap2it.com quotes Tyra as saying that she understood Adrianne’s frustration, since modeling requires a certain amount of hustle, and a girl cannot survive on reality TV fame alone. Genius. Why would Tyra do anything but turn this into an opportunity to sharpen her counseling skills?

If this was a boxing match, our money would be on: Tyra. Adrianne would throw the first punch. Tyra would throw the last.
Tyra VS. Janice Dickinson

The Issue: Where to begin? "America’s first supermodel" Janice Dickinson was a judge on the show for four cycles, playing the Id — which means she had no filters, because filters don’t get good ratings. When Janice was not invited back, she began a series of attacks on Tyra, calling her righteous and mocking her forehead. (Side note: Considering Tyra got irritated whenever Janice questioned the merits of plus-sized models, it’s sort of funny that Tyra replaced her with someone named, um, Twiggy.) The much broader issue here is that Janice always operates like a woman with nothing to lose, which makes her a dangerous person to feud with.

Them’s fightin’ words! Janice on Tyra: "She's huge. She's a big woman. I used to think she was a man. I used to look at her and think, 'Something isn't right here.'"

Is Tyra smizing or despising?: Tyra rarely addresses the issue to the media, but just read that quote from Dickinson one more time. Yeah, we're gonna guess despising.

If this was a boxing match, our money would be on: Janice. Our money would be on her even if she were fighting an actual boxer.
Tyra VS. Paulina Porizkova

The Issue: After serving as judge for Cycles 10-12 on ANTM, supermodel Paulina Porizkova was let go in 2009. According to Paulina, fat needed to be trimmed from the show. She also claims producers told her she had a big ego. Paulina, however, thinks that speaking up about The Boss’s bad habits might have gotten her in trouble. She alleges Tyra was always, as Real Housewife Kim Zolciak would say, tardy for the party.

Them’s fightin’ words!: Paulina gave some pretty blunt quotes during an interview with Access Hollywood. On her frustration with Tyra’s alleged tardiness: “It’s six hours later and I feel like I am being told my time is not as valuable as hers. They pointed out that I should shut up and be grateful for the job and that Tyra is really busy.” On her panel seat, literally four feet away from Tyra: “I’m not even sure she was aware that I existed way out there in Siberia, much like I am not sure she knew Twiggy existed.”

Is Tyra smizing or despising? Smizing. Tyra and the producers said Paulina’s firing was due to the bad economy (which is sort of what Paulina said), and that their show was not immune to these hard times. This was a good angle to play since people who have lost jobs, dipped into retirement funds, cut back on grocery shopping, and watched their homes be taken from them can completely relate to Tyra’s dismissal of a supermodel from a TV show about making supermodels.

If this was a boxing match, our money would be on: Paulina. The sting of getting fired would certainly increase her adrenaline, but the fact that the firing took place on her birthday would get the girl through nine rounds.
