Last night’s America’s Next Top Model Cycle 17: All Stars was one of the oddest in ANTM history. But it may have also been the best week ever for Angelea Preston.
Coming off of last week’s poor performance, where she was paired with Dominique Reighard in the bottom two, Angelea started off this episode in a tizzy. She busted out a bit of her ghetto girl ‘tude, telling us how upset she was with Dominique for calling her out as one of the weakest modelstants, and her distaste for Lisa’s joining in with the anti-Angelea campaign.
But in the first challenge, Angelea rocked the blog. Her photos of street life and Greek fashion impressed the Vogue Italia editor so much that she won over wacky Lisa, who arguably worked the hardest on this project.
Then, Tyra gave Angelea the arduous task of evoking her childhood traumas for her embodiment of a teary Tookie in the Modelland video. That vulnerability and emotional visibility helped her immensely with the judges. Especially Andre Leon Talley, who said she was like a phoenix rising from the ashes this week.
Finally, she completely turned into a blushing tween when Tyson Beckford showed up and offered her a hug. The question is: does Angelea now have an advantage in the finals, coming off of such a stellar week?
