Let’s face it: If we’re going to take advice from any celebrity, it’s going to be Amy Poehler. Or maybe Oprah. But mostly Amy Poehler. And in her latest interview with Ladies Home Journal, she offers up the best words of wisdom she’s got on deck — your BFFs come before your BF, always.
“Most of the women in your life will outlast the men in your life,” Amy advises. “The SNL ladies — Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Tina [Fey] — and I text pictures of our kids back and forth all the time. It keeps us connected. As my nanny used to say, the older you get, the more important it is to know people that knew you when.”
Okay, so how do we get added to that texting group? Finally, a group message we actually want to be involved in. Obviously, Amy and Tina have remained close — and if they hadn’t, it would have made the Golden Globes super awkward — but it makes us so happy that Amy remains so close with the rest of her former SNL family.
Amy also went on to talk about how she envisioned her life when she was younger — and it’s not exactly what she got. “I dressed like a professional business woman from Working Girl when I was in seventh grade,” Amy says. “I wore shoulder pads and sneakers as if I was commuting to an office.”
We hope Amy’s not too disappointed that she didn’t grow up to be a business lady, because we think what she actually grew up to be is way cooler.
