Amy Poehler Wins Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy!
Knope we can! Parks and Recreation fans have been waiting literally forever to see the beloved comedy actually win some of the accolades we all know it deserves, and tonight, those years of hoping paid off in a Golden Globe for Amy Poehler, AKA everyone's favorite civil servant, Leslie Knope.
Amy, who also hosted the show along with her comedy bestie Tina Fey, seemed utterly shocked to win Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical — perhaps because she's gotten used to being passed over. In fact, Amy even said as much in her shocked and delighted speech: "I never win, so I can't believe I won."
We're having a hard time believing it, too, but not because she doesn't deserve it. The exact opposite, in fact. Amy has been the center of Parks and Rec's stellar ensemble for six seasons now, and she's turned a character who could be sickly sweet or overly obnoxious into one of the most loveable and admirable characters on TV. We're just happy the Globes voters have finally realized that she deserves a shiny trophy for all her awesome.
