Even though there were rumors that Lea Michele (Rachel) and Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) dated in the early days of Glee, we were still stunned when Lea confirmed that the two Broadway vets were a couple for a “Broadway beat” before Glee was even on the air. Sure, Matt’s only eight years older than his on-screen student in real life, but something about this pairing was just a little too unsettling. Leave it to Bravo’s Andy Cohen to take things to the next level.
Lea was a guest on Andy’s late-night talk show, Watch What Happens Live, on May 22 — along with Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry and Lea’s dad, Marc Sarfati, who was guest bartending for the night — and the Real Housewives wrangler asked Lea about her brief relationship with Matt during a round of Plead the Fifth.
For those of you unfamiliar with Andy’s favorite game, he asks guests three tough questions, but they can only opt out of answering one of them. So if you choose not to answer the second question then you must answer the third.
Andy started off easy with Lea, asking her if there were any Glee storylines that made her think the show was in danger of jumping the shark. The 27-year-old actress kept it diplomatic, stating that there’s been “wacky stuff for sure” but her storylines have been “pretty good.”
Mr. Cohen’s next query, however, made us and Lea squirm.
“On a scale of 1-10,” Andy began, “how was Matthew Morrison in the sack?”
Lea seemed a bit taken aback by Andy’s question and she quickly reminded him, “My dad is right here!” For his part, Papa Sarfati just laughed it off, but Lea knew better than to answer the question. “This is horrible,” she declared with a laugh. “Plead the fifth!”
