Anybody else think Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) should just plan on writing a book about marriage and motherhood? We know we’d be at the front of the line to buy it! Every time this lovely True Blood star starts talking about her relationship with Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) and being mama to the couple’s totally adorable twins, she’s got even more interesting points to make!
First, of course, was her tweet back in early June made in honor of Pride Month. The 31-year-old shared how proud she is be a “happily married bisexual mother” adding how “marriage is about love, not gender.” More recently, she expanded on that point in an interview with HuffPost Live; the typically private Anna opened up about her experience sharing her life with the public.
“There’s people that are going to probably go to their grave thinking whatever they think about the LGBT community,” she said. “That’s their problem, not mine. And there’s people that think that monogamy and bisexuality are mutually exclusive. Again, their problem, not mine.”
Her goal is just to get the conversation started because, as she puts it, “the more normal and, frankly, mundane and boring this stuff becomes, I think the better it’s going to be for everyone who is part of our community.”
Unfortunately, that kind of openness isn’t without its risks, as Anna explains. Watch the video above to hear what kind of reaction her Pride Month tweet got. All we have to say: You keep doing you, Sookie!
