Anne Hathaway’s Secret Awards Show Weapon: A Flask of Tequila (VIDEO)

Attending the Oscars might sound like a dream come true to us, but for a lot of celebrities, it’s just another day at the office. Anne Hathaway has seen her share of awards shows, so now, she has to do whatever she can to make them more… interesting.

During Anne’s recent appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael, she revealed what’s actually going on in the audience at the Academy Awards — and that her secret weapon during awards season is alcohol. Only when she’s not hosting the show, of course.

“This year, I decided to do something a little different,” Anne said. “I got a perfect purse sized flask, which I put tequila in, and I had a great time. It was really nice. It’s a great ice breaker.”

Anne admitted that she willingly shared it with her fellow audience members, so everybody wins. Her seat neighbors, friend Joseph Gordon Levitt and Precious star Gabourey Sidibe — who Anne described as “awesome” — benefited from Anne’s preparedness the most, though.

“She did the funniest thing,” Anne said of Gabourey. “She was texting, and I was like, ‘I’m gonna have some fun with her.’ And I was just like, ‘You know, Gabby, I think it’s kind of rude that you’re texting when the rest of us are all talking to each other and trying to get to know each other.’”

But don’t worry — Gabourey had the perfect comeback ready and waiting.

“She was like, ‘Sorry, sick family member in the hospital,’” Anne continued, “and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so sorry,’ and she was like, ‘Ha ha!’”

We’re assuming the tequila may have inspired even more jokes, but we’ll have to wait for Anne’s next talk show appearance to hear those. Note to self for our next award show evening (scheduled for the 12th of never): Bring a fun flask.
