Annie: First Look at Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, and Cameron Diaz in the Musical (VIDEO)

It's a hard knock life for us now that we have to wait another nine months for the upcoming film Annie — starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, and Cameron Diaz — but at least Entertainment Tonight is bestowing us with our first look at the musical.

The movie is the third screen adaptation of the legendary 1977 Broadway musical — which itself was an adaptation of the comic strip Little Orphan Annie.

Annie is the classic rag-to-riches tale, in which the titular curly-haired orphan defies sadistic matron Miss Hannigan and wins over the heart of billionaire Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks.

This latest cinematic version is set in present-day New York City and stars Quvenzhané — an Oscar nominee for Beasts of the Southern Wild — in the lead role, Jamie as wealthy politician Benjamin Stacks, and Cameron as Miss Hannigan.

Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), Bobby Cannavale (Blue Jasmine) Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost), Tracie Thoms (Rent), and Dorian Missick (Southland) round out the cast.

Behind the camera, Easy A director Will Gluck is at the helm, with Jay-Z, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith on board as producers. Jay Z is also providing music for the movie, which is set for release on December 26.
