The Fault in Our Stars’ Ansel Elgort To Play Legendary Pianist in Van Cliburn
Love Ansel Elgort in The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent? Of course you did — he’s adorable! But don’t worry if you’re suffering for a little withdrawal while you wait unpatiently for Insurgent to come out. His career’s just beginning, and he just booked another movie role!
According to Deadline, the 20-year-old star is set to star in Van Cliburn, where he will play the title role. Even better, Ansel will reunite with producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who also worked on The Fault in Our Stars. We don’t doubt that they’ll make movie magic happen again!
So what’s Van Cliburn, anyway? The movie will be based on a book by the same name that tells the true story of Harvey Lavan “Van” Cliburn, a legendary American pianist who won Moscow’s Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. Ansel will be playing him at age 23, which is how old he was when he won.
This role should be a breeze for Ansel, considering how much he loves music. He records EDM under the name Ansolo, and released his first single, “Unite,” in April — which he describes as “progressive house” music. Is this guy talented, or what?
We can’t wait to see Ansel take on his next role. After all… it will be a huge comfort to us after crying our eyes out at The Fault in Our Stars over and over again.
