She may have starred on a show called Lost, but Evangeline Lilly's career is anything but. The Hollywood Reporterreveals that the 34-year-old is in talks to star in Ant-Man, an upcoming Marvel superhero film.
The Canadian-born actress — who played reformed fugitive Kate in the enigmatic ABC hit — would be the female lead in the summer tentpole, opposite This Is 40's Paul Rudd. Paul will play Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, a superhero who shrinks down to insect-size and communicates with bugs. Meanwhile, Michael Douglas will play Dr. Hank Pym, the scientist who invents the shrinking technology.
The film, helmed by Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director Edgar Wright, is slated for release on July 17, 2015 — as the first installment of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (We're currently amidst Phase Two, which includes the previously-released Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World and the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.)
Evangeline currently stars in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug as the elf Tauriel. She also starred in thesci-fi sports flick Real Steel alongside Hugh Jackman and in the Oscar-winning war drama The Hurt Locker. The Golden Globe nominee and her partner, Norman Kali, have a two-year-old son named Kahekili.
