Apollo Nida to Phaedra Parks: “You’re Just So Mean All the Time”

It was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but on Sunday’s March 23 episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, we got a quick glimpse into some of the underlying marital issues between Apollo Nida and Phaedra Parks. While we’ve seen the two struggle over Apollo’s SextGate scandal with Kenya Moore, there seems to be more to the married couple’s problems, as evidenced by Phaedra’s hubby’s comments during the couples trip to Mexico.

Though Phaedra was clearly upset with her man for even engaging in conversation with Kenya, Apollo tried to ignore all of that, attempting to make things up to her with an early surprise birthday celebration. The Househusband rounded up the rest of the RHoA couples (and Porsha Williams, poor dear) for a small party. Kinda sweet, right?

But PhaePhae wasn’t feeling particularly grateful as the two drove up to the dinner in their golf carts. While we can understand that she didn’t feel like brushing everything under the rug, the next exchange left us a little alarmed, to say the least.

“It’s not often I try to do something nice for you,” Apollo says quietly, the Bravo mics catching the next particularly harsh bit, “because you’re just so mean all the time.”

Eek! We’re guessing these two didn’t know they were being recorded at that point. And Phaedra’s response was equally candid, telling him that no one’s ever mean to him. This lady is not feeling sorry for her insecure hubby.

“I’m more in the mood to get the hell out of here and go home,” Phaedra tells the Bravo cameras as she walks in to the shindig. And who could blame her?

Though her mood does seem to improve, courtesy of some cake and a piñata filled with condoms (really, Apollo?!), we can’t stop thinking about that terse exchange between the spouses. At the end of the day, Kenya may have thrown another wrench into their marriage, but it appears Apollo and Phaedra’s problems run much deeper.

Do you think Phaedra is too mean to Apollo or is he being sensitive? Tell us in the comments below.
