The lineup just dropped for the 16th annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center telecast on NBC on December 4, and it might as well be renamed “A Very Diva Christmas,” because it’s got all of our favorite ladies — including rising pint-sized powerhouse Ariana Grande! This year’s tree lighting will feature the Nickelodeon star alongside Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton and others. Eek! We can hardly handle the girl power of it all.
Fans of Ariana, aka “Arianators,” won’t be surprised to hear of the popstar’s upcoming appearance, as she just this week released her first holiday single, a cover of the 1984 Wham! classic “Last Christmas.” The tune has a distinctly Ariana feel to it, thanks to the production of her go-to team, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and The Rascals. Expect lots more Ariana holiday goodness in the weeks to come: She’s rolling out a new Christmas classic or cover every Tuesday through December 25.
And if you can’t wait two weeks for your Ariana fix, you can catch her on this weekend’s 2013 American Music Awards. The 20-year-old, who’s nominated for New Artist of the Year, will debut her first AMA performance on the Sunday night broadcast. Catch it at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on November 24.
And tune into Christmas in Rockefeller Center on NBC on December 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
