Update (4:30 p.m. ET):

Fret not, Arianathan fans! Nathan Sykes has taken to his social media to dispel the rumors.

After word spread that he and Ariana Grande may have split, fans went to Twitter to beg for answers. Nathan, who had gone on a short break from his account recently, was taken aback by all of the racket. “Don't even know what to say ...hiiiiiiiiiiiiii,” he initially tweeted, clearly unsure of how to approach the situation.

But soon after, The Wanted’s lead singer found his voice again. “Ooooo I know what to say!” he said. “Don't believe anything until you hear it from me or one of the boys. Everyyyoneee calmmmmm doooowwwwnnnnn lol.”

Huh. Though this could be great news, we’re still a little hesitant to move into celebration mode just yet. There’s a chance Nathan could have been referring to rumors about his band, The Wanted. At least now we know that, should there be something to announce, Nathan won’t be afraid to tell his fans — and likely through Twitter. So be sure to keep an eye on his account!

Original story (December 20, 2013):

Please join us in a moment of silence for the potential end to one of our favorite budding Hollywood romances. Hearts across America were broken yesterday when pint-sized diva Ariana Grande hinted that her four-month-relationship with The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes had come to an end. No! God! Please, no!

During an interview with Florida radio's 93.3 FLZ, the 20-year-old songstress was asked about Nathan, with whom she’s been spotted jetsetting and cuddling backstage in recent months. But apparently things aren’t as cozy as they were a few weeks back, as the “Right There” singer responded: "You're a little behind."

"We're really good friends," Ariana added. (The interview has since been taken down from the station’s site.) Just friends?! Either the romance has cooled or Ari has a very different idea than us as to what “friendship” entails.

This sent Arianators into a tizzy on social media, with everyone wondering if this pop power couple had called it quits. It sure sounds like Nathan has found himself back in the friend zone with Ari, which is a real bummer. After witnessing their chemistry in the “Almost Is Never Enough” video and watching their relationship bloom right before our eyes this holiday season, we don’t want these two to call it quits right before Christmas!

But, perhaps, Ariana is just playing it coy. We’ll be clinging to that one shred of hope until these two younguns officially say otherwise.

What do you think Ariana meant by her comments? Let us know in the comments below.
