Arianators have a lot to celebrate today. For one, their beloved Ariana Grande has just returned to the US after spending the last few weeks in Japan — meaning we’re likely in for some great new stateside performances. And last night, the R&B diva beat out Grammy-nominated not-“teen hottie” Lorde — as well as some other major names — for the 2014 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist.

Imagine Dragons, Icona Pop, and Austin Mahone were also up for coveted award, which goes to the favorite industry newcomer of last year, as voted by the people. While Lorde might have the Academy vote on lock, it seems Ari has the more avid fan base, and that’s what’s important!

Joining Ariana in the winner’s circle last night were some of the rising star’s own musical inspirations, including Britney Spears (Favorite Pop Artist), Justin Timberlake (Favorite R&B Artist), and Demi Lovato (Favorite Female Artist). Not a bad crowd to be rolling with!

Unfortunately, the 20-year-old was unable to attend the star-studded event in-person, though she did send out her appreciation to the fans on Twitter.

“Thank u so much @peopleschoice & my incredibly dedicated fans for favorite breakout artist,” she writes. “So honored & happy. Love y'all so much.”

We’re sure this is just the first of many accolades Ariana will be picking up in her sure-to-be long career. Better get comfortable with your acceptance speeches, missy!
