We didn’t think we’d get fresh music from Ariana Grande so soon after her megahit “Problem” was released, but the pint-sized diva doesn’t disappoint! Ariana has already set records in digital sales for the tune featuring Iggy Azalea, making it a serious contender for the song of summer 2014, so as a thank you to her fans, she’s released a whole new track!

On the evening of May 14, Ariana took to Twitter to send a long, thankful message to her supporters, before sharing the full audio track to the never-before-heard “Boyfriend Material.”

“A little surprise for my loves as a thank you for all of your constant love, support, and dedication,” Ariana tweets. “I know how much y'all love this song and how disappointed you were when it didn't make it on to my first album so i knew i had to get it to you somehow someday. this song means a lot to me and holds such a special place in my heart as it was one of the first songs i did when i started working on 'yours truly' when i was like 17 ….. don't worry… you'll get more of these oldies too as time goes on! I'm working on it for you. love you all so much. you are everything. love you.”

Ooo, so it’s a throwback! We were going to say, though the song is very catchy, it does have a similar sound to those retro-inspired tunes from Ari’s first album — for instance, “Tattooed Heart” and “Honeymoon Avenue.” It’s not exactly on track with the new, more pop-urban sound the 20-year-old’s going for these days with collaborators like Iggy, Chris Brown, and Zedd. But we still enjoy it anyway!
