Arie Luyendyk, Jr.: The Bachelorette “Cursed” My Love Life

It’s hard to believe that the news of Emily Maynard’s engagement broke a week ago — or that it’s been nearly two years since she first started filming The Bachelorette. But now that she’s off the market, Season 8 runner-up Arie Luyendyk, Jr. is flowing free with his thoughts about the girl who dumped him, and the ones who haven’t stuck around since.

Arie was the only one of Em’s top few fellas to reach out to her after her engagement was announced on January 7, and he spoke exclusively to RadarOnline with a few more than 140 characters today. “I’m happy for her. I knew that she was in a serious relationship, so I’m very happy that she’s found that person she’s happy with. I wish her the best,” he said in a new interview.

Will Arie be next in line to get hitched? Not so fast. It seems that he hasn’t had a good date since the ones planned by producers. OK, so maybe that’s just our wishful thinking talking, but Arie didn’t exactly mince words about the effect his show stint had on his life. “The show cursed my love life,” he said dramatically.

Uh, care to elaborate, pal? “Before the show, I was serial monogamous, and now I just can’t seem to find a steady girlfriend.” We don’t know a lot about his dating life before the show, but since the August 2012 finale, he’s been linked to Season 16 winner Courtney Robertson and Season 17 bombshell Selma Alameri, so it seems like he’s not doing too badly. True, though, neither of those relationships lasted long. And it’s not them, it’s Arie.

Well, his life, to be clear. He travels 250 days a year for his job as a race car driver, which he calls his “first love.” And while he says that his travel schedule allows him to meet “great” people, long-distance relationships aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

As for who he’s looking to be with, he says that his love for adventure means he has to find a road trip pal with a flexible schedule so she can run with him.

Maybe on his next trip, he’ll find the perfect girl, he jokes. “Who knows. Maybe, I’ll meet someone at Sean Lowe’s wedding.”

We have no doubt that SeanCat’s January 26 wedding will be chock-full of hotties, ready to line up for kissing lessons just as the groom did on his own Season 17 premiere...
