The Pretty Little Liars actress stepped out in West Hollywood, California on February 9, wearing black leggings, black and white shoes, and a t-shirt by French designer Enfants Riches Déprimés that read "DJ Heroin."
The shirt could just be a harmless fashion statement, but it could also be seen as insensitive, especially after the tragic death of Philip Seymour Hoffman from a drug overdose on February 2. Ashley even reacted to the horrible news, posting an anti-drug message on Twitter the same day of the actor’s death.
She wrote, "Don't do drugs......." and then posted a link to a news story about Philip Seymour Hoffman’s untimely passing. Ashley also opened up to Cosmopolitan recently about her family’s history of addiction.
“There are drugs and alcohol in my family on both sides, so I’ve seen lives ruined, going to jail and all that. Once you start with any drug, it can be an addiction — that’s why I never want to start and am not even tempted, because that chain is relentless. And if it runs in your family, you see how unglamorous it is. I would never want to be out of control with my body."
It seems like Ashley has a very strong opinion about drug and alcohol use, so we doubt she would knowingly promote substance abuse. She probably just liked the t-shirt for what it is: a bold fashion statement.
