Anyone ready for a Pretty Little Liars/X-Men crossover? If you had asked us that question a week ago, we might not have been sure how to answer it, but now the 2008 comic book X-Men Origins: Jean Grey has been brought to our attention. A young Ashley Benson (Hanna) was used as the model for the teenage Jean Grey portrayed in the comic book, and it may just have us itching to cast Ash in the next X-Men film.

“That time I was Jean Grey,” Ashley captioned the Instagram snapshot of a few frames from the comic book in question. In it, we see a 16-year-old Jean Grey interacting with Professor X, and it is freaking us out that Ashley really is Jean Grey. Newsarama talked to artist Mike Mayhew about his illustrations for the comic book back in 2008. What did Mike have to say about Ashley’s role in the process?

“Jean Grey was the toughest role I ever had to cast. Mainly because we are depicting Jean at age 12 and age 16. A lot happens to a girl between these ages, so I couldn¹t rely on the same person to play both roles,” Mike explained. “Again I went to Ford Models, because of the wide selection of talent they had, and also the professional arrangement when working with minors. The main Jean, as seen on the cover is portrayed by Ashley Benson, who is on Days of Our Lives, and is the star of Bring It On 4.” Excuse us while we go track down Bring It On 4.

What do you think of Ashley’s comic book turn as Jean Grey? Would you like to see her in the next X-Men movie? Sound off in the comments below!
