Ashley Wagner’s Emotional Response to Figure Skating Score — Bad Sportsmanship?

The Sochi Olympics has its first meme! This photo of Ashley Wagner has been widely heralded as the first image to go viral from the 2014 Olympics. The U.S. figure skater, 22, was pretty clearly unhappy after hearing she’d only received a score of 63.10 in the ladies short program.

One look at the photo, and Ashley’s face says it all. Girlfriend is not impressed. Her brows are furrowed. Her grey eyes look upset. Her glamorous red lips are open in shock. It feels like all the internet has seen this photo... and the reactions to it certainly differ.

The young Olympian has faced criticism for her reaction, with some people feeling that her reaction is a sign of bad sportsmanship. We asked fans on Viggle LIVE! for their reactions, and the results were pretty overwhelming.

A full 90 percent of Viggle users voted, “No way! She’s allowed to show emotion.” In contrast, only a mere 10 percent said, “Yes. It was out of line.” Clearly, Olympic viewers are Team Ashley all the way.

Hey, it’s not like she threw a temper tantrum or anything. It was one moment — a raw, honest reaction — after having just competed in an extremely high profile event while the whole world was watching. And according to most of you, her reaction was totally justified.
