Pretty Little Liars Author Sara Shepard Dedicates New Book “Deadly” to WHO?

With the success of Pretty Little Liars the television show, sometimes it’s easy to forget that the epic story of friendship, mystery, and murder started as a book series. And Sara Shepard, the PLL author, seems to be a huge fan of the show and its young actresses – if her recent dedication is anything to go by.

Sara dedicated her new book to the four actresses at the heart of Pretty Little Liars: Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery), Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields), Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings), and Ashley Benson (Hanna Marin). Check out Shay’s excited re-tweet on the subject:

OMG! #PLL RT @KelliBreeKent: Sara Shepard dedicated her new book to the TVPLLs. In love already @shaymitch,” Shay shared on December 3, along with a snapshot of the book’s dedication page. It reads: “To Lucy, Shay, Troian, and Ashley.” OK, we’re officially declaring everyone in the PLL universe the cutest creative team ever. Even those loosely associated seem to support one another!

It’s quite high praise for the show, too, to know that the origin material’s author is this much of a fan. Though the show has taken its basic conceit and many plot points from the books, they are definitely very different creatures with huge diversions from one another. But that doesn’t mean we don’t love both!

Sara must be somewhat used to having her book series adapted to television at this point. In addition to PLL, Sara’s The Lying Game was developed for ABC Family. She also has two more book-to-television translations in the pipes: The Perfectionists and Heiresses. We can’t wait to check them out! If they’re half as addictive as PLL, we’re sure to fall in love.

Have you read the PLL books? Do you think they have much in common with the show? Sound off in the comments below!
