Vampire Diaries Awarded Noise Permit For Late-Night Filming
Being kept up by the noises of The Vampire Diariesfilming next door sounds kind of awesome to us, but apparently not so much to residents of Covington, Georgia. According to CovNews.com, the TVD production gang had to get a special permit from the city for noisy night filming for some upcoming shoots. Which all-important Mystic Falls location necessitated the rule-breaking? You may be surprised to find out!
The locale is none other than Lockwood Mansion (in real life, known as Worthington Manor). This piques our interest on two fronts: One, because we didn’t realize Lockwood Mansion had any nearby neighbors and, two, because we haven’t yet been to Tyler’s family home yet in Season 5. Does this mean Tyler will be back from his crossover to TVD spin-off, The Originals, or is he still M.I.A.? And, if he is back, how does Caroline feel about this development? From this spoiler photo, it certainly seems like Car has moved on following Tyler’s breaking of her heart, but they say you never forget your first love…
Filming at Worthington Manor will take place from November 12-14, and is permitted to continue until 1 a.m., according to the special-use permit. Without the permit, the city ordinance prohibits noise above 60 decibels between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., and noise above 55 decibels between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Given that this more-or-less excludes even a director’s yell of “Cut!”, the TVDers apparently decided to err on the side of caution and go for the permit. According to the permit, anyone within 200 feet on the filming location will get $50 for each day of filming past midnight. Neighbors with a TVD filming location and fifty bucks?! We want to go to there.
