Downton Abbey’s 2014 Awards Season: What Did The Show Win?

With both the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards officially behind us for the year, let’s do a roll call on what Downton Abbey did and didn’t take home this awards season. The series was up for a few major nominations this year with one cast member getting particular love from Hollywood. Plus, we got these great award night selfies from Lady Mary!

Golden Globes

Best Television Series — Drama: Lost
Unfortunately, Downton Abbey didn’t win in this category, losing out to AMC favorite Breaking Bad. Guess Mrs. Patmore should be cooking something else…

SAG Awards

Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series: LostLightning didn’t strike twice. After last year’s win and amazing acceptance speech by Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), the cast of Downton Abbey remained in their seats for this nomination. The award instead went to Breaking Bad. Darn you, Walter White!

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series: Won!Downton Abbey owes its first major win in 2014 to the Dowager Countess (hardly a surprise, right?). Maggie Smith received the SAG in this highly competitive category, beating out fellow talents Claire Danes, Anna Gunn, Jessica Lange, and Kerry Washington. It was Maggie’s first individual SAG award and although the 79-year-old actress wasn’t there to accept it, we like to think she would have told her fellow nominees the following:
