Baby Doctor Welcomes Newborns by Singing “Happy Birthday”
When a baby arrives into the world, it’s a joyous occasion and sometimes people are moved. As for one doctor, he’s so moved by the event, that he sings to his newly-delivered babies.
According to this super-cute video posted to YouTube, Dr. Carey Andrew-Jaja is known as the “singing doctor” at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Magee-Womens Hospital. He explains that he started singing to babies years ago when he was just a resident.
Dr. Andrew-Jaja says he picked up the singing from his former senior doctor and mentor, and has since welcomed thousands of newly delivered babies with a song — crooning everything from “Happy Birthday” to “It’s a Wonderful World.”
In the video, the “singing doctor” explains that when he’s singing to these babies, he’s connecting with a “future important person,” and that when you see the miracle of life in front of you, it’s a very special moment to celebrate.
“It opens a big connection between us. I feel an obligation and I enjoy another opportunity to celebrate with the family,” Dr. Andrew-Jaja explains. “That’s another thing the singing does for me, the bond is instantaneous whenever you connect this way, that makes it more fun for me.”
Keep on singing, doctor. We hope you never change your tune!
