As if it weren’t bad enough already that the 2014 Emmys snubbed our precious Bachelor/ette franchises (and beloved host Chris Harrison) for yet another year, they had to go and air the annual TV awards on Monday night this year! Don’t they know that Mondays are solely for the best reality dating show on the air?

Given the August 25 airdate, we were a little concerned for the current spin-off Bachelor in Paradise… but it turns out we needn't have worried! The series’ fourth episode somehow survived in the midst of all the red carpet and premium cable hubbub over on NBC. Though it was down about 400K viewers, BiP was still pretty even with Episode 3 last week, coming in at a 1.3 rating amongst those coveted adults 18-49, reports TVbytheNumbers.

That being said, though the Tulum-based shenanigans did pull in 4.6 million sets of eyes, it was (unsurprisingly) dwarfed by the 15.6 million Emmy viewers. Luckily, it appears that less than a half a million of those award show junkies were BiP’s regular demo.

Funnily enough, while AshLee Frazier was trying to ruin Clare Crawley’s life over on ABC, Emmys host Seth Meyers was actually cracking a Bachelor in Paradise joke in the show’s opening monologue on NBC.

“There has been some controversy over which categories some shows were submitted in,” Seth began, in front of the A-list audience. “For example, Orange is the New Black was submitted as a comedy rather than a drama. True Detective was submitted as a drama instead of a mini-series. And Bachelor in Paradise was submitted.”

The audience sure had a nice little laugh about that, but hey, at least they knew what he was talking about!
