As self-professed Bachelor in Paradise addicts after only a half-dozen episodes, even we have to admit that this week’s Episode 6 was sort of a disappointment — and not for lack of drama. It’s just tough to top the previous week’s double-header featuring a (not) threesome, some near-fainting incidents, and another appearance by the racoon therapist.

So how did this follow-up week fare? According to TVbytheNumbers, the Labor Day episode brought in a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 8 percent from last week’s 1.3. The good news, is that it was still fairly on-par in actual viewership, with both weeks hovering around 4.6-4.7 million viewers.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that August 25’s Episode 4, the previous Monday, was higher during the Emmys 2014. In other words, on a night that should have suffered the most, the show ranked solidly, yet when nothing else major was on, BiP struggled a bit this week. Whomp.

As for what may have caused this decline, the first paragraph here says it all: Audiences were amped up by the two-night cliffhanger, and AshLee Frazier drama/Jesse Kovacs’s sexual escapades were at an all-time high. Though the September 1 ep had some solid showings — from an overbearing Cody Sattler (and the overwhelmed object of his affection, Michelle Money), to the  genuine girl power moment  inspired by the aforementioned Jesse — it just wasn’t enough.

Not to worry, though! There’s only one more episode left of this guilty pleasure spin-off series, and by the looks of the twists and turns ahead, the finale will be a doozy worth tuning in for! For nothing else, you’ve got to watch to just find out which couples are still together... and which one gets engaged!
