JoJo Fletcher’s ‘Bachelorette’ Gets Controversial With Ben Roethlisberger
This Bachelorette 2016 season is just overcoming its diversity drama, and now it may have another controversy on its hands.
JoJo Fletcher will be taking some of her Season 12 guys on a group date to Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. So of course some NFL stars, past and present, will make cameos — including one divisive choice: quarterback Ben Roethlisberger!
In case you don’t know the background, Ben has a contentious past, having been accused of sexual assault twice — once in 2009, which was later settled out of court, and again in 2010, which was dropped when the victim feared the trial would be “intrusive.”
Needless to say, Bachelor Nation might not take too kindly to his appearing on a female-dominated reality series.
Then again, the longtime football star’s career hasn’t been affected much by these claims, so perhaps people have already forgotten?
Either way, at least we have some other, less problematic sports appearances in the mix as well. Former players Hines Ward, Brett Keisel, and Marcellus Wiley are also showing up in the date, which Reality Steve says features a football obstacle course.

It should also be noted that Jordan Rodgers, younger brother of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, and former undrafted free agent in the NFL himself, seems to be part of this date, as well.

Unfair advantage is right! But hey, it should be interesting to see Jordan reunite with some guys who probably know him a bit already — and to see him show off his own skills on the field!
The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 23 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
