Season 5 Bachelorette Jillian Harris recently aired some reservations, and a couple of Bachelor/ette contestants just shared some candid comments with TV Guide. William Holman, whom you may remember for roasting Ashley Hebert till she cried on The BacheloretteSeason 7, returned to the familiar ground of blunt honesty when telling TV Guide, "I don't think America is going to get what they're looking for with Juan Pablo. He has the draw of the accent, but I think it'll get a little boring after a while. It's not going to go well. But it'll probably be one if the best first episodes of any season.
Boring is one thing we don't expect from JPG. We may not understand what he says — and just about all Bachelors and Bachelorettes end up irritating us in one way or another before the end — but JP doesn't seem in danger of being dull.
Besides, The Bachelor is usually less about the guy than the ladies cast to claw each other’s eyes out for his love. That's what Michelle Money focused on in her comments to TV Guide. The Bachelor 15 andBachelor Pad 2 alum said the show is really good about casting for the particular rose-giver. "[S]o it'll be interesting to see the type of women that end up on his season because of his cultural differences and being a single dad." Then she added a bit of a caveat: "It'll definitely be a sexy season that's either going to work really well or bomb really badly."
Well, at least that doesn’t sound boring. An epic fail would at least have a trainwreck factor, but we’re betting on things angling on the sexy side. It may end up being goofy-sexy in a telenovela sense, but we’re OK with that, as long as it’s entertaining.
What are you expecting from Juan Pablo as the Bachelor? Do you think the bloom will be off the rose after the first episode?
