Which Bachelorette 2013 Contestant Has Been on Another Dating Show?

Apparently Mike Garofola prefers to meet his dates on TV. Before appearing on Season 9 of The Bachelorette, the then-29-year-old Mike looked for love on SOAPNet’s Holidate, a show that sends singles thousands of miles from their hometowns to meet three eligible singles for a round of one-on-one dates. Those lucky enough to find true love get handed a plane ticket rather than a rose. (No word on who funds future cross-country rendezvous.)

In his 2009 episode, Mike does the limo meet-and-greet in New York City with a blonde San Franciscan named Missy. Her first impression of the future Bachelorette contestant: “ohmygoshyouaresocute.” Missy later added, “He is an attorney, which is always attractive to me considering my dad is an attorney.” A tad Freudian, no?

For their date, the pair go golfing, leading to an awkward five minutes of badly timed sexual innuendos paired with a random boat full of drunken men. “I rented that boat of men for you. In case you were bored with me, you could just hop on,” Mike says at one point. Perhaps even then he had Bachelorette ambitions?

During dinner, Mike reveals that he’s had a couple serious girlfriends, though not since 2007. We think it might have something to do with the missing chunk in his left eyebrow. Mike’s unconventional manscaping doesn’t scare off Missy, who offers the well-built New Yorker that coveted plane ticket. But based on the show’s credits, the love affair never gets off the ground — Missy starts dating a close friend after arriving back in San Francisco.

Let’s hope Mike has more luck with his new California girl, Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock, who gave him a first impression rose during Monday’s premiere. During his Holidate appearance, Mike did say he hopes to be “on the verge of starting his own family” in five years. That was back in 2009, so we’ve only got one thing to say: Tick-tock, Mikey. Tick-tock.
