Emily Maynard Releasing Tell-All Book ‘I Said Yes’ — Get the Details! (VIDEO)
Maybe it’s time to start up a Bachelor-themed book club, because we’ve got lots of material to work with these days!
We were already looking forward to Andi Dorfman’s upcoming memoir, It’s Not Okay — which Catherine Lowe compares to 50 Shades of Grey! — and now her Bachelorette predecessor, Emily Maynard Johnson, just announced a tell-all of her own!
The book, titled I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True Love, is said to explore Emily’s life before and after her turn as Bachelorette in 2012 and “the profound new reality she discovered when she forsook fame in favor of serving God.”
“Heartbroken, embarrassed, and feeling completely unlovable, God found me, picked me back up and showed me His love was all I've ever needed all along,” Emily says in the release.
"I finally say 'yes!' to something much more than a guy's love. I said 'yes!' emphatically to finally resting in the peace and love that can only come from Christ. And that love has dramatically changed my life."
But the story won’t focus entirely on the new mom’s faith — the 29-year-old also opens up about her tragic past, from checking into a psychiatric facility in high school to the shocking loss of fiancé, NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, when she was 18 and pregnant with their first child, daughter Ricki.
And of course, there will be details about her time on Bachelor and Bachelorette, which she says left her feeling “empty and utterly embarrassed.”
Luckily, this story has a happy ending, now that Emily has met the love of her life, husband Tyler Johnson, welcoming first child together, son Jennings, last summer.
“This is a book about God's love and redemption, no matter how many mistakes you've made. Or in my case, failed television engagements!” she explains.
