Did Bachelorette Andi Dorfman Resign From Assistant District Attorney Post? (UPDATE)

UPDATE (6/19/14):

Looks like TMZ is coughing up the receipts to prove their report that Andi did, in fact, resign (rather than extend her leave of absence) from the Fulton County District Attorney's office. The gossip site got ahold of the Bachelorette's actual letter of resignation, where she states that "the opportunities which led to my original request have unexpectedly extended beyond the leave period that you granted." The initial leave period given by the office was through May 31.

She goes on to state that it would be "unfair" to her colleagues to ask the D.A. to hold her position, and that "it is with great sadness that I tender my resignation effective immediately."

So there you have it — she has officially resigned. However, Andi does make it clear that she is not done with practicing law, and she expects to be done with her commitments to the franchise "by year's end." It's then that she implores her former employers to "strongly" consider her for re-hire. So is it safe to say that the Dorf is looking to stick around the Atlanta area? Hmm...

Original story (6/16/14):

So much for all that law-loving legal talk Andi Dorfman spouted in her Bachelorette package! It seems the Season 10 starlet has taken that “leave of absence” thing to a new extreme. There are two conflicting reports hanging out in the air, but both point to Andi not returning to her gang prosecutor role — at least, not any time soon.

Before becoming the Bachelorette, Andi got permission to be out of office until the first of June. But she didn’t just jump out of the bikini and into the briefs so soon after her May 19 show debut, and a Fulton County District Attorney doesn’t expect her back. The Daily Report chatted up her boss, Paul Howard Jr., who reports that Andi asked to extend her time off for a while.

"She said she had other commitments until December," Howard said. "I asked her if she was getting married, but she couldn't tell me." Still, while he says she asked for another six months off, he doesn’t expect her to come back. "I think she'll go to CNN or something like that."

In a bit of a conflicting report, TMZ says that the 27-year-old did not ask for an extension on her leave, choosing instead to turn in her badge (or whatever it is they carry around), and move on. The site says the office had nothing but glowing things to say about the Atlanta girl, and that they’d rehire her if she wanted back in.

So, what’s the real story? Great question. All we know is the streets of Atlanta aren’t as safe as they would be with our girl Dorf taking down the bad guys, but we’re happy that she’ll have time to make other plans. Like plan a wedding, perhaps?
