Bachelorette Jillian Harris Shares Her Holiday Tips: Don’t Do WHAT?!
If anyone knows how to spruce up your house for the holidays, it’s Season 5 Bachelorette Jillian Harris. The Canadian hottie has been making spirits bright on the reg with her gig on Love It or List It: Vancouver for HGTV, and now she’s sharing some of her best ideas with CasaSugar.com, including what not to do when you’re getting your house ready for Yuletide cheer.
As far as giving gifts, you’re on your own, but she has a definite opinion on how you present them to your family and friends. "I love to wait until everyone is asleep and save some unwrapped presents for under the tree — just a big ol' bow is good enough sometimes. If your present is beautiful, it shouldn't be under paper!" A great tip for if you’re giving a sweet watch or darling doll, but the quotidien stuff should definitely get a coat of paper over it.

And if the winter blahs have your interiors looking less than festive, Jilly suggests filling mason jars and clear vases with plug-in mini lights to give a glow to your darkest corners. “You can use just one or an entire collection and display them inside or outside,” she shares of the instant sparklers.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jillian special unless she plugged the thing she loves most: Vintage. Along with her cousin and a friend, Jillian started Charlie Ford Vintage, an online specialty store which amasses the best vintage housewares and jewelry around, informed by her excellent taste. Naturally, she advises mixing a little of the old in for new traditions.
"How many of us have old, vintage mercury ornaments that don't get used anymore?” Jilly bean asks readers. “Remember the nostalgia of the holidays from when we were little? I love memories and the feeling of the good ol' days, and so I enjoy bringing out all the old ornaments and keeping them as a part of our holiday decor."
Sounds like great advice to us! Now, if only we could get everything to turn out as beautifully as she does…
