Bailey Has Sex in On-Call Room and Other OMG Moments From Grey’s Anatomy: February 17, 2011

Dinah Washington sang about "What a Diff'rence a Day Made," but as we learned in Grey's Anatomy Season 7, Episode 15, a mere hour can be just as huge of a difference. Here are five surprising things that happened between the hours of 6 and 7 o'clock that night in the ER of Seattle Grace Mercy West.

Addled Adele
The Chief may have told Meredith not to worry, but we're right there with her: something is amiss in Adele's brain. If she's talking about a job she doesn't have anymore and decorations that are way out of season, she has much more serious problems than a fractured wrist. And, hard as he might try, the Chief can't even convince himself that everything is okay — you can see the worry all over his face as he takes Adele home.

Bailey "naps"
The on-call room has seen many a canoodling couple, but we never thought we'd see Miranda Bailey hitting the sheets for a little workday whoopee. Then again, Bailey was professional and chaste for six seasons, so hey, we say she's entitled to her share of the fun. And if Eli's offering, why should — and how could — she say no?

Literally under the knife
Over the past seven seasons, we've seen a lot of foreign bodies inside human bodies: metal poles, mortar shells, Judy doll heads... the list goes on. But the guy in this episode had a knife sticking out of his head and he couldn't seem less perturbed by it. Even more amazingly, the knife did absolutely no damage to his brain. It was a mere flesh wound. How often do "dumb" and "lucky" intersect so?

Alex Actually Acts Admirably
Okay, we confess: we're just big suckers for any moment in which Alex shows his compassionate side. In this episode, he had every reason to not care about medicine or patients. It was his day off and he had primo seats at a hot-ticket basketball game. But what does he do? Give the tickets to Jackson and spend the night tending to a kid's broken femur. Color us moved.

Mer Bears Bad News
Death is so common on this show that it hardly ever pulls at our heartstrings, but this time was an exception. Meredith had to inform Oliver's family of his sudden passing, but before she places the call, his little boy Max calls Oliver's phone, still thinking that his dad is on his way to take him to the basketball game. Meredith has to answer the phone and break the news to Max and his mother. Her voice cracks as she does, and our hearts break. Thank goodness blogging doesn't involve such grievous duties.
