Justin Bieber Had Bathtub Baptism During Racist Video Scandal

Justin Bieber recently made two public apologies in a row after racially insensitive videos from his past surfaced online. According to TMZ, Justin’s team was contacted two months ago by someone who had the videos and threatened to expose them unless he was paid seven figures. While dealing with the extortion, Justin reportedly turned to his faith to help him through the tough times.

Pastor Carl Lentz told TMZ he spent a week with Justin last month, doing intense Bible studies and attending services. Justin was even baptised in the bathtub of one of his friends. He supposedly chose a bathtub baptism because he had checked out a few churches but his cover was blown every time and he wanted to keep the whole thing private. It worked … till now anyway. Not that this is on the level of things Justin would want to hide, but it’s very personal. Some things are (literally) sacred.

Still, it’s no secret that Justin is very focused on his faith — just check out his many cross, praying hands, and Jesus tattoos. Back in 2013, Us Weekly mentioned how Justin, his mom, Selena Gomez, and other stars were attending a monthly Bible study group in Beverly Hills. After completing her rehab stint earlier this year, Selena posted some Biblical wisdom on Instagram, underlining passages from Genesis that promote being "a blessing" to others.

It sounds like Justin is going through a similar period of personal reflection. Will this baptism wash away his past and put him on a different path, or will he return to some of his less positive influences?
