Justin Bieber Beats Out Leonardo DiCaprio For Necklace in Charity Auction

If Justin Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio were to fight, which one would win? We’re not sure, but when you put them together in an auction for charity, Justin comes out the victor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, at last week’s annual amFAR Cinema Against AIDS event in Cannes, Justin and Leo were both vying for the same piece of jewelry, and in their defense, it sounds like a pretty amazing necklace. Covered in Bulgari gems (including 19.12 carats of pave diamonds), it’s part of the Serpenti line that was originally commissioned by Elizabeth Taylor.

Although the necklace was valued at 150,000 pounds, Leo put in a final bid for $476,000, only to be outbid by Justin, who put down a cool $545,000. The sweetest part of the deal? Justin said he wanted the necklace to give his mother as a gift. Pattie Mallette is one lucky lady!

Sorry, Leonardo DiCaprio — when it comes to Justin Bieber’s bottomless wallet, you just can’t compete.

However, it’s not like Leo left the auction without something to be proud of. He managed to raise over $1.5 million for AIDS research at the benefit when he auctioned off the opportunity to join him on a space mission. Yes, this is really a thing that is happening.

Maybe next time Leo and Justin can combine their passion for philanthropy (and nice jewelry) for another awesome cause? We’ll see!
