Little Girls Play Dress-Up as Iconic Women of the World — You Have to See This! (PHOTO)

TODAY recently shared the story of a Maryland photographer and mother, Eunique Jones Gibson, who took an inspiring series of photos of little girls striking poses as powerful women of the world, resulting in images that are definitely worth more than a thousand words.

The girls dress up as trailblazing women of power, including First Lady Michelle Obama, children’s rights activist Marian Wright Edelman, former attorney general Janet Reno, and Anne Frank. Inspiring quotes from the real subject accompany the images, and all feature the feel good tagline, “Because of them, we can...”

Eunique says she got inspiration for the photo series — which initially featured both boys and girls for a Black History Month project— from her sons, who are now 5 and 1 year old.

According to the artist, “The more I thought about their promising future and the individuals, past and present, who have paved the way for them and others, I began to think about the need to connect them to these people in a way that would help them understand their contributions and feel just as confident about making their own.”

Gibson says the participating girls learned a lot about these ionic female role models while participating in the shoot. What an inspiring idea! Others obviously agree, Gibson has received over 500,000 likes on her Instagram and Facebook pages. Not
