Update (May 6, 2014):
Rest easy, Ben Affleck fans. The Argo director was only banned from playing blackjack and not kicked out of the entire casino, a source now tells BuzzFeed. He was "too good," the source explains.
A Hard Rock Hotel rep adds, "Mr. Affleck, a valued guest of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, is not banned from our property and is welcome back any time. It is the policy of the hotel to not comment on any casino customer's gaming play." Conclusion? Never play cards with Ben Affleck.
Original story (May 2, 2014):
Ben Affleck, criminal mastermind? The father of three and husband of Jennifer Garner is under investigation for card counting, according to RadarOnline.com.
We find it hard to believe but Radar insists “an all-points bulletin” made the rounds of Las Vegas’ biggest casinos about “notorious gambler” Ben Affleck. The Academy Award winner was supposedly barred from play at the Hard Rock Casino shortly after 10 p.m. on April 28 and was “being way too obvious” about his illicit techniques.
Ben’s reported method of cheating? Perfect basic, jargon that’ll make sense to any card sharks out there (not us) and which is basically a fancy way of saying card counting 101. The casino alert adds Ben “takes insurance according to the count. Uses black $100 cheques to keep track of the count while playing.”
It all sounds a shade complicated and two shades suspicious to our way of thinking but crazier things have happened. After all, in 2011 he supposedly lost the staggering sum of $400,000 in one game to mogul Ron Meyer in a secret Hollywood poker ring. Maybe Ben’s just been spending too much time around Ocean’s 11 star Matt Damon…
What do you make of the rumor? Holds water or leaky as a badly made boat? Tell us in the comments and share your thoughts on how Jennifer might react.
