Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner Joke About Their Marriage on SNL
Ben Affleck joined the "Five-Timers Club" on Saturday Night Live this weekend and brought his wife Jennifer Garner in on the fun.
Still reveling in his Oscar glory, the actor/director wanted to address his acceptance speech from the big night — you know, the one where he thanked Jennifer and said their marriage is "work."
So Jennifer was ready to help him with his opening monologue on SNL, and the result is equal parts cute and hilarious.
"I thanked my wife while saying the essence of marriage is work," Ben said in the monologue (watch below). He blamed the poor phrasing on nerves, saying that giving an Oscar speech is "completely terrifying."
"Some uncharitable souls on the Internet took that to mean our marriage is some kind of manual labor," Affleck went on to say. "That's not it. You define what's important to you by what you dedicate your time to."
Ben welcomed Jennifer to the stage, saying that by "work" he meant that they "talk privately" about their commitment as husband and wife.
"I'm not sure why you had to share it live to a billion people," Jennifer said, adding that she wished he would have called their marriage "a gift."
Then Ben told her, "I want to tell you how I wish I had ended that speech: I couldn't do any of the things I do without you, without your support. You're my angel, my life, my world,"
Hold your applause! The camera panned out and Jennifer called him out on reading cue cards. Awwww!
