First question: Who Knew the Real Housewives of the Real Housewives TV franchise had to audition? Guess we always assumed news of their antics just traveled by word-of-mouth until finally reaching the ear of some lucky Bravo exec. Now, thanks to former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel, we know just how wrong we were.
Keeper of the Bravo gates Andy Cohen recently stopped by Bethenny’s talk show and brought along a special gift for the his fellow TV host: Bethenny’s audition tape from back in the day.
In the video, the then-36-year-old celebrity chef drives around the Big Apple and lists the clients she’s cooked for. “Basically I’m a natural food chef and in Hollywood, health sells,” says the future head of the Skinnygirl food and alcohol empire.
Honestly, the whole thing’s rather tame when you consider the kind of drama Bethenny was involved in during her tour of duty on RHoNY. All the same, Bethenny found the video “painful” and asks Andy, “That’s why I made it on the show?”
Well, her obvious sense of humor helped, he explains. Also, maybe her chest.
“Were your boobs bigger in that clip?” Andy asks.
“Yes, remember how I said I got implants put in and then I got a lift,” explains Bethenny with accompanying hand motions.
Andy saves the best part for last, however. “I met [fellow RHoNY cast-wife] Jill [Zarin] through a mutual friend at a dinner,” Bethenny from the past says. “She’s just a nutjob. I like her.” How things do change.
