UPDATE (6/20/2017 at 6:01 p.m. ET): It looks like we may know now what "minor issue" has kept the Carter twins in the hospital this past week.
Though it was unclear how far along Beyonce was at the time she gave birth, the babies came a bit early, according to TMZ sources.
As a result of their early birth, they're said to have jaundice, which is an excess of bilirubin in the blood, leading to a yellowish skin color.
It is a common issue with premature births and some light therapy in the hospital should return the babies' bilirubin levels to normal. Read on for more details on the birth of Beyonce's twins!

Beyoncé is officially a mother of three!
The 35-year-old singer gave birth to twins this week with hubby Jay Z by her side, according to multiple reports.
However, mom and babies reportedly remain in the hospital due to a "minor issue" barring their release.
Sources connected to the Carters say the twins were born Monday, June 12. After a "minor issue" surfaced, the nature of which is unclear, doctors did not feel comfortable releasing them, TMZ has learned.
Thankfully, Beyonce is said to be well and the babies are expected to be OK as well. At this time, there is no information about when they'll be sent home.
There is also no information about the babies' names or sexes, but a woman delivering flowers and balloons addressed to "B + J" was seen with both "it's a boy" and "it's a girl" balloons.
Despite reports the Carters paid big bucks to install a maternity ward in their home, the Beyhive was abuzz with speculation on June 14 that their queen was in labor when the couple's entourage was spotted outside a Los Angeles-area hospital.
The twins' reported due date was on or around June 12, so those kiddos came right on time!
The Queen B's father, Mathew Knowles, posted a Happy Birthday image to the twins on Father's Day, which is the first confirmation from a family member that the newborns have arrived.
Bey revealed news of her twin pregnancy on Instagram on February 1, just weeks before her epic 2017 Grammys performance.
The photo quickly surpassed Selena Gomez’s 2016 upload as the most-liked photo on the site in its history, amassing 8.2 million likes in less than 24 hours.
She also dropped several killer baby bump pics this time around.
The Houston native gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy back in 2012, with the 5-year-old reportedly looking forward to becoming a big sister, according to Us Weekly.
There are rumors the couple used in vitro fertilization to conceive, as Bey has been relatively open about her pregnancy troubles in the past.
On their latest duet, “Shining,” however, Jay Z claims the twins were conceived au naturel.
“One ain't enough, I need two/That night, I mixed the Ace (champagne) with the D'US' (Cognac)/Hit a triple-double in her Garden/Held up my left wrist like I’m Harden.”
Congratulations to Beyonce, Jay Z and Blue Ivy on the twins!
