Beyoncé’s body just might be the most coveted in the entire world, but the music superstar is quick to admit that keeping her figure perfectly “Bootylicious” isn’t easy. Queen Bey puts her super-fit body on full display in her provocative “Partition” music video, and she reveals in her documentary clip Liberation that this was a very intentional choice.
"I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body,” Beyoncé tells the camera. “I was 195 pounds when I gave birth, I lost 65 pounds, I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body."
The 32-year-old gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter on January 7, 2012, and she reportedly was so dedicated to getting her body back that she hired a trainer to live in her home as a way of ensuring fitness was a top priority.
“Beyoncé and Marco are up at 5 a.m. for a two-hour workout, and they do it again at 5 p.m.,” a source told Star at the time. “They do a mix of cardio, Pilates, plyometrics, yoga and, of course, dance.” She also reportedly stuck to a diet of protein and veggies.
Today, Bey is a slim 130 pounds for her 5-foot-7-inch frame. "I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back,” she says in the video.
“I know that there’s so many women that feel the same thing after they give birth. You can have your child and you can still have fun. You can still be sexy and still have dreams and still live for yourself."
Mission accomplished, Bey.
