The Washington Post has snuffed out an incendiary claim made by a French photographer who alleged that President Obama and Beyoncé are having an affair and that the Post would be publishing an exposé on the story tomorrow, February 11.

French photographer Pascal Rostain promised the bombshell in comments he made to French newspaper Le Figaro:

"You know, at this time, the United States, there is something big that is happening… Besides, it'll go out tomorrow in the Washington Post. We cannot say that it is the gutter press [reporting on an] alleged affair between President Barack Obama and Beyoncé. I can assure you that the world will talk about it."

Vanity Fair France reached out to the Post, and the newspaper's communications director refuted the claims. "I can tell you that this is wrong. The Washington Post does not prepare articles like this."

And Pascal himself seems to be backtracking, revealing to Le Figaro that it was a joke.

Well, Pascal wasn't totally wrong: The whole world is indeed talking about it, but only to laugh at how preposterous the whole story sounds.

Our take: Extramarital affairs involving the President of the United States should probably stay the domain of shows like Scandal.
