Beyonce and Jay-Z are known for their big spending, but Queen Bey's young half-brother is living a very different life.
Beyonce's parents, Tina and Mathew Knowles, ended their marriage after his affair with Alexsandra Wright resulted in a son. That child, Nixon, was born in February 2010, and Mathew moved on to marry Gena Charmaine Avery this past July.
In the past few months, Alexsandra has been vocal about Mathew being behind on his child support payments. And today, February 15, TMZ even posted a photo of her state-issued EBT card, since she is now reportedly on public assistance, getting $300 a month for food for their son. TMZ said Mathew now owes $32,135.90, which is up from the $24,000 he was said to owe back in December. At the time, Mathew said it was just a clerical error.
Also back in December, Alexsandra's brother Jonathan Wright told RadarOnline that Mathew has no relationship with Nixon at all. “I find it kind of odd that somebody that’s proven as somebody’s biological father has never ever seen their son,” Jonathan told Radar. “And when they’re a wealthy individual, it’s odd that they would be a deadbeat dad.”
Alexsandra released a statement back in August, saying she and her family had "exhausted every non-legal avenue to urge Matthew to be a responsible father and to follow the stipulated judgement we reached together [on child support]."
She continued, "Those close to me know my primary concern is my son Nixon’s welfare and well-being; both now and in the future. I feel that it is important for him to know, when he comes of age, that he wasn’t a mistake and that he was a product of love!” She also wrote that she has “the utmost respect and admiration for both of [Mathew’s] daughters,” Beyonce and Solange. “I also regret the pain that this situation has caused his ex-wife, Tina, and very much wish one day I will get the opportunity to tell her personally." Yeah, Tina probably doesn’t want to hear that, but thanks.
This is a pretty sad situation all around, and we feel for little Nixon. He didn’t do anything wrong and yet he’s now caught in an ugly public battle for his famous father’s money and attention … but mostly just his money.
