Big Brother 15’s Aaryn Gries Regrets Blaming Texas Humor For Racist Comments
UPDATE (9/20/13): After the Big Brother 15 finale, Aaryn talked to TMZ to explain her in-house comments and her post-eviction talk with Julie Chen. "I am not a racist," Aaryn said, adding, "Sometimes you can say mindless things that will haunt you." She also wishes she had left her state out of the whole thing. "Blaming Texas was the biggest mistake I made ... I was in defense mode."

Oh man. Aaryn Gries, 22, a college student from San Marcos, Texas, was evicted on Big Brother 15 Week 9. After her vote-out on the Thursday, August 29 live show, Aaryn was confronted by host Julie Chen about some of her "racist" comments on the show. (She's not the only one who has said horrible things this season; she's in good company there.) Aaryn seemed to expect the question, and said her comments were taken out of context. She said being Southern is a stereotype and, even though she couldn't remember the specific comments Julie quoted, she said (if she said those things) she didn't mean them to be taken seriously. She's great friends with everyone in the house and it hurts her that she would say things like that, or that she would be perceived as racist. "I feel horrible. I feel like in Texas, we say things that are — sometimes we joke and we don't mean it and I really feel bad that this is how it's being seen."
