Kim Kardashian Weighs In on Blackface Kanye West Impersonator (VIDEO)
So remember way back in February when Kim Kardashian had not-the-best-time in Vienna? While accompanying 81-year-old businessman Richard Lugner to the super-posh Vienna Opera Ball — a move which reportedly earned the star $500,000 — an already-weird evening was made weirder when a man in blackface started harassing Kim, pretending to be her then-fiancé, Kanye West. Fast-forward to now — with Keeping Up With the Kardashians in season, E! has given us a sneak-peek of the episode with the incident, plus Kim's and Kris Jenner's reactions.
Here's what we already knew: During a photo op with Richard, the man, later revealed as Austrian "stand-up comedian" Chris Stephan, attempted to talk to her. Kim, always a lady, attempted to just walk away, but it got trickier when Chris asked Kim to dance. She declined, saying that she's not a very good dancer… so Chris said the N-word. Chris later said he never intended to be racist — some big talk coming from someone in blackface spouting racial slurs.
In newly-released footage, part of Sunday's episode of KUWTK, we can see the guy in a white suit and a glittering, cream tophat — uh, is that how he thinks Kanye dresses? — repeatedly saying, "Oh my god! Oh my god!" and "It's me, Kanye!" in a Kermit the Frog-esque voice, while Kim and Kris stand by uncomfortably.
Kim weighs in on the whole incident in a reaction interview "I can't believe there's this guy in full blackface," she says. "I just am so confused. I don't get why him or anyone else would find this funny," she says. "Is this just like a sick joke?"
"A guy in blackface? It's really uncomfortable, and a little scary," adds Kris, before explaining the history of blackface and what makes this all so not-OK.
The clip ends with the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch looking understandably annoyed and ordering a vodka. We'd be right there with you, girl.
