At the end of Episode 11 of The Blacklist, Agent Keen (Megan Boone) asked Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) the question we’ve been asking since the beginning of the series: “Are you my father?” (Okay, so we didn’t think Red was out dad, but we definitely thought he was Lizzie’s!)
But then Red answered “no,” and we found ourselves throwing our remotes in disgust. “Are you kidding? He’s got to be!” we yelled. And it sounds like plenty of other watchers felt the same. When Wetpaint polled Viggle users to ask whether they thought Red had told Liz the truth, a whopping 89 percent agreed he was most definitely lying. Only 11 percent of viewers felt Red was being honest.
While we’re glad to know we’re not alone on this one, we have tons of questions about why he’d start lying to her now. This whole time Red’s been trying to gain Lizzie’s trust, and so far he’s seemed remarkably trustworthy for an international crime lord. Also, we can’t imagine a better way to gain her trust than by revealing that they share blood.
Rest assured, though — if he is lying about her paternity, we’re sure he has an impeccably timed endgame in mind. This is Red we’re talking about, after all — a man who exacts vengeance with such a calm and methodical demeanor, he makes Hannibal Lecter look impulsive.
