Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl's movie career just took another hit: She was replaced by a much younger actress in the film The Age of Adaline — Blake Lively, of Gossip Girl fame.
Per Deadline, Blake will play the "29-year-old title character, who stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident. Over the 20th century she embarks on an epic but isolated worldwide journey, keeping her secret, until she meets a man who forever alters her life."
So... basically it's the female Benjamin Button?
In any case, Political Animals star Ellen Burstyn is Blake's co-star in the film, with Celeste and Jesse Forever director Lee Tolan Krieger at the helm.
Granted, this switcheroo could be a lot less dramatic that we might think — it's possible that Katherine will just be too busy getting all Sydney Bristow in her new NBC spy drama. She was cast for the part in May 2010, so who knows what happened in the intervening three years.
Besides, the 34-year-old Emmy winner has three other films on her slate: relationship dramedy North of Hell (with Grey’s co-star Kevin McKidd), animated flick The Nut Job, and amnesia drama A Moment to Remember.
The jury is out on whether this cast shakeup is a "moment to remember" for Katie!
What do you think of Blake replacing her? Sound off below.
